RESUMO

Sentiment analysis in research involves the processing and analysis of sentiments from textual data. The sentiment analysis for high resource languages such as English and French has been carried out effectively in the past. However, its applications are comparatively few for resource-poor languages due to a lack of textual resources. This systematic literature explores different aspects of Urdu-based sentiment analysis, a classic case of poor resource language. While Urdu is a South Asian language understood by one hundred and sixty-nine million people across the planet. There are various shortcomings in the literature, including limitation of large corpora, language parsers, and lack of pre-trained machine learning models that result in poor performance. This article has analyzed and evaluated studies addressing machine learning-based Urdu sentiment analysis. After searching and filtering, forty articles have been inspected. Research objectives have been proposed that lead to research questions. Our searches were organized in digital repositories after selecting and screening relevant studies. Data was extracted from these studies. Our work on the existing literature reflects that sentiment classification performance can be improved by overcoming the challenges such as word sense disambiguation and massive datasets. Furthermore, Urdu-based language constructs, including language parsers and emoticons, context-level sentiment analysis techniques, pre-processing methods, and lexical resources, can also be improved.

This study reflects on the preservation of digital archival records from a systemic perspective, based on standards recognized by scientific literature. In such a way, it uses a holistic view to emphasize the relevance of preservation to be considered throughout the life cycle of records. The methodology is based on a bibliographic survey composed of articles, books, and technical publications, to obtain a narrative review. It is noteworthy that digital preservation has evolved to new heights, and requires the use of standards to implement reliable computer systems. With this, the entire life cycle can be involved in an uninterrupted chain of custody capable of ensuring the authenticity of digital records. Finally, a systemic-holistic approach is advocated, in which records are planned and produced with a view of the preservation and access in the long-term.

RESUMO

Library staff at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell implemented a digital repository to collect and showcase the scholarly output of the medical school and the Northwell Health system. This repository, entitled Zucker School of Medicine Academic Works, promotes scholarship by faculty, trainees, and staff via a centralized public website. With links to the full text and faculty profiles, the repository facilitates access and discoverability in alignment with the value of scholarship at the institution. Subsequent implementation of a research information management system to harvest publications further enhances the goals of tracking, promoting, and reporting impact of the scholarly activities. This article reviews successes and challenges, and collaboration with other stakeholder departments.

A study was conducted to determine what proportion of the scientific production by Cuban authors registered in Scopus in the period 2010-2014 is available by open access, and propose actions to increase access to and use of the results obtained by Cuban science. The journals containing studies published by Cuban authors were classified according to their access model and their self-archiving policies, with the aim of determining the proportion of actual open access papers (golden route) and potential open access papers (green route). It was found that 62.7 percent of the Cuban scientific production is available in open access journals, placing the country in an advantageous position in the dissemination of research results by this means. It was also found that 66.8 percent of the 3 239 papers published in non-open access journals may be made public via the green route, for these journals allow post-print self-archiving. Sensitization and training of authors about open access, adoption of institutional self-archiving policies, development of an infrastructure of digital open access repositories, and advice to editors of national scientific journals in topics related to intellectual property and Creative Commons licenses, are among the main actions proposed to increase access to and use of research results in the country(AU)

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The desirable curation of 158,122 molecular geometries derived from the NCI set of reference molecules together with associated properties computed using the MOPAC semi-empirical quantum mechanical method and originally deposited in 2005 into the Cambridge DSpace repository as a data collection is reported. RESULTS: The procedures involved in the curation included annotation of the original data using new MOPAC methods, updating the syntax of the CML documents used to express the data to ensure schema conformance and adding new metadata describing the entries together with a XML schema transformation to map the metadata schema to that used by the DataCite organisation. We have adopted a granularity model in which a DataCite persistent identifier (DOI) is created for each individual molecule to enable data discovery and data metrics at this level using DataCite tools. CONCLUSIONS: We recommend that the future research data management (RDM) of the scientific and chemical data components associated with journal articles (the "supporting information") should be conducted in a manner that facilitates automatic periodic curation. RESUMO

Does PubMed Central--a government-run digital archive of biomedical articles--compete with scientific society journals? A longitudinal, retrospective cohort analysis of 13,223 articles (5999 treatment, 7224 control) published in 14 society-run biomedical research journals in nutrition, experimental biology, physiology, and radiology between February 2008 and January 2011 reveals a 21.4% reduction in full-text hypertext markup language (HTML) article downloads and a 13.8% reduction in portable document format (PDF) article downloads from the journals' websites when U.S. National Institutes of Health-sponsored articles (treatment) become freely available from the PubMed Central repository. In addition, the effect of PubMed Central on reducing PDF article downloads is increasing over time, growing at a rate of 1.6% per year. There was no longitudinal effect for full-text HTML downloads. While PubMed Central may be providing complementary access to readers traditionally underserved by scientific journals, the loss of article readership from the journal website may weaken the ability of the journal to build communities of interest around research papers, impede the communication of news and events to scientific society members and journal readers, and reduce the perceived value of the journal to institutional subscribers.
